Deregulation made it possible for Brokers and Freight Forwards to be competitive with large-scale trucking companies or associations, that, in out opinion, would like to charge their clients more per mile than we do, and keep those profits in house. We actually HELP carriers fill backhaul lanes that they normally would have to run empty. No one can afford to run a lane empty in this day and age.
Every load is negotiated and contracted on demand. Carriers have the right to reject or accept any load we offer, and each carrier has the right to counter each price with his/her offer. This is a huge advantage! We actually have carriers that tell us daily, they want to carry our freight over other shippers, because we understand their needs and help them more. We will build relationships with reputable carriers. These relationships benefit our shippers because we can increase their capacity and create efficiencies.
We must maintain expensive software, hardware, telephone systems and training classes. We at Cutts work long hours and reinvest profits in the company for expansion and growth. We have been in business for twelve years and plan to be here for a lot longer! In other words, this is not a fly-by-not-company. Our people have years of management and transportation experience with companies such as Consolidated Freight, Fedex, Ernst and Young, Toys-R-Us, Packaging Corp of America, etc. We even have our own IT person on staff that can write customized reports and facilitate requests such as EDI transactions.
